Hanson demonstrates that values are a biological adaptation like any other (the bird's wings, or the fish's scales) and that nature and nurture conspire to ensure that animals end up with productive values. The book is targeted mostly to a younger audience (probably pre-teen to early twenties) but I, who have kids that are at the high end of that age range, thoroughly enjoyed it as well.
A few notes to parents: The author has done a great job of keeping the language very kid friendly without sacrificing the plot - which I very much appreciate. Thanks Mike for this great book!. It's all over Goodreads and it's not something that everyone is keeping quiet. While not a complete book for a serious mushroom collector this book introduces the reader to the wonderful world of fungi. He shows us formost that they are simply people. I just did a short aerobatic course in England and my instructor was the proofreader for this book.
