One appealing feature of string theory is that it provides a theory of quantum gravity. This volume is a self-contained, pedagogical exposition of this theory, its foundations and its basic results. Due to the large amount of background material, actions, solutions and bibliography contained within, this unique book can be used as a reference for research as well as a complementary textbook in graduate courses on gravity, supergravity and string theory.
Tomás Ortín completed his graduate studies and got his Ph.D. at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He then worked as a postdoctoral student in the Physics Department of Stanford University supported by a Spanish Government grant. Between 1993 and 1995, he was E.U. Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow in the String Theory Group of the Physics Department of Queen Mary, University of London, and from 1995 to 1997, Fellow in the Theory Division of CERN. He is currently Staff Scientist at the Spanish Research Council and member of the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Dr Ortín has taught several graduate courses on advanced general relativity, supergravity and strings. His research interests lie in string theory, gravity, quantum gravity and black hole physics.

Very cute. I enjoy it because it gives my instructor a chance to join in the fun. I guess my mind set wasn't there when I saw the title. I was interested to read reviews of authors I've read other books by, but I'd have liked Lewis to have reviewed other books by them, such as George Steiner's "In Bluebeard's Castle" and Denis de Rougemont's "Love Declared". It is hard to believe that the author is the brother of novelist Lawrence Durrell, author of THE ALEXANDRIA QUARTET.. Usually enjoy a good ghost story. Alibaba is not offering free fish but it teaches people how to fish on a scale and pace never seen before and this book shows exactly how this is done.. The storyline also didn’t need any of this extra conflict in order to be interesting. Depending on your tastes, that might be a plus or minus.

Fans who (like me) own all of the WW DC Archive Editions reprinting WONDER WOMAN magazine and SENSATION COMICS, should be aware that this book will have some very familiar st
