She treated this "complete crazy" named Edie Sedgewick. She is presented as the anti-Elinor Roosevelt - not in a derogatory way, just a different approach to problems and a different political ideology. These would be more helpful as footnotes (and less likely to be missed), but they add immeasurably to the reviews. Otherwise, if you're looking at it because it has Lewis's name on the cover, you'll probably find his fiction or his other essays a lot more worthwhile.
