I almost got whiplash just trying to keep up with the times. But if I had to choose, I would take a well written, solid academic work full of quirky and often brilliant original ideas over narrative any day. On the way she meets mermaids, battles worms and beasts, and crosses the desert in seven-league boots. And maybe we know much more about these Earth-like bodies than our own Earth.
