On May 1, 1837, Episcopal bishop George Washington Doane welcomed52 young women from eight states to his new school, St. Mary's Hall, inBurlington, New Jersey. Bishop Doane's radical innovation of giving youngwomen the same mental training as young men motivated people from farand wide to send their daughters to this new school. Doane's visionaryefforts soon turned many heads and changed many hearts, and the schoolgrew accordingly. Today, as a coeducational school known as DoaneAcademy, the institution carries forward Bishop Doane's passion to pushthe boundaries of education. Located along the banks of the DelawareRiver, Doane Academy builds and instills character and a sense of duty intoits students and prepares and guides them as they move "Right Onward"to change the world.
In St. Mary's Hall and Doane Academy, Jack H. Newman, director of archives, has selected from materials preserved within the Eliza Green Doane Archival Library to assemble a concise telling of the long, storied, and ongoing history of this beloved institution. Cynthia McFarland is a descendant of Bishop Doane and a member of Doane Academy's board of trustees. John McGee has driven a powerful transformation at the school since becoming headmaster in 2000.
This book even with a few minor errors was actually a good read. These are great duets for the experienced player, I'd say someone in highschool would be able to read this, again assuming they have a lot of experience and can read well.
I've always enjoyed Voxman's arrangements of duets, and although it does have some original songs, it also takes themes from popular classical music. Albeit this book is double-sided (ugh) at least what's on back of the pictures is print and not other pictures. Some parts were, but for a middle school student, especially one who isn't an expert at predicting, I thought the number of clues (and false clues to lead a reader astray) were just about right.
I appreciated the faithfulness of the friends and the theme of how important friendship really IS. Reading reviews of non-contemporary books that one knows little to nothing about is pretty dull. Robert Boling appears to be a competent translator, but his commentary on Judges seems to miss
