Philip Larkin was born in 1922 and grew up in Coventry. In 1955 he became Librarian of the Brynmor Jones Library at the University of Hull, a post he held until his death in 1985. He was the best-loved poet of his generation and the recipient of innumerable honours, including the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry and the W.H. Smith Award.
The book concludes with a 28 page Simonson art gallery featuring both finished pieces as well as sketches. Howard Schwartz's author's note at the end of the book is far more fascinating than the whole of the book itself. I dont own the hardcopy but i got this for my recently bought Kindle and the version for the Kindle, SUCKS!!! It was a complete waste of money since I could not even read the tables that appear in a lighter gray shade. This ship is picking them all up to take them to their safe world and protect them.
